Out Loud

2020
We Can All Dunk Productions, Milwaukee, WI

How do two people learn to love each other? And how is that possible when their views and perspectives on the world are polar opposites? OUT LOUD is about Benny, a gay African American man and Eva, a straight African American woman and the various characters that inhabit their no holds barred, politically incorrect, and comedically poignant love story. It’s 2008, and through vignettes of conversation, over the course of a year, Eva and Benny discuss race, sex, hair, being gay, relationships, the N-word, reverse racism, white stereotyping, the church, white casting directors and what it means to be a Black man or Black woman in a (still) White man’s world. But can two people of opposing viewpoints truly voice their opinions and remain friends?
